I’m a dog lover, spicy food enthusiast, and Disney Park adventurer. I’m laid back, and a big dreamer. When I’m not taking or editing photos I’m often found exploring local hiking spots, watching quirky tv shows with my husband and listening to the same songs over and over again. I love the feeling of nostalgia – you know, when you hear a song, or see an image and it takes you back to the good feelings associated with those memories. Ooooh, I just go crazy for that! And it’s always my goal to give you nostalgic feels when looking back at your wedding photos!
You’re probably thinking “I’m here for pricing, why is she introducing herself first?” Well, I think it is super important that you connect with your photographer. They are the only vendor with you for the entire day – we see you laugh, cry and sometimes we even see you in your underwear. You want your photographer to be someone you are comfortable with. My Approach
I am truly passionate about capturing genuine and authentic moments. The real moments that show your personality, your love for one another, your pure joy! I will never ever ask you to pretend to laugh – I am going to pull out those real laughs! I get to know you both, how you share your love, what makes you laugh, and what makes you emotional. I feel that is so important for me to be able to create images that really, truly tell your love story! I want you to look back on your images and feel the love and joy that you felt in that very moment when the shutter opened and that moment was captured. You won’t have those feelings, or see those real smiles if your photographer tells you to pretend to laugh.
Through all the craziness on your wedding day I want you to have a few moments to relax, let loose, and have fun. And I approach my wedding day photography with that in mind.
I love the environment and most of the sessions and weddings I shoot take place in nature. In an effort to give back to the beauty of nature I commit to have 10 trees planted in honour of every wedding booked with me! I have chosen Tree Canada as the tree planting charity to work with. They are involved in reforestation, community greening and initiatives to offset CO2 emissions across Canada. Your trees will be planted in Canada in the area most in need!
Engagement
I just love engagement sessions and I think they are such an important part of your wedding day photography! You’re probably thinking, “How can this be? It’s not actually part of the wedding day.” But it is, it really is!
Your engagement session gives us a chance to spend some time together before the wedding day to get more comfortable with each other. Most couples have never had professional photos done before hiring a photographer for their wedding. The engagement session will give you the opportunity to see my style of shooting and get comfortable in front of the camera so you don’t have to stress about where to put your hands on your wedding day! Every couple I have worked with has told me that having an engagement session has made them feel so comfortable in front of the camera and it made them more comfortable on their wedding day. And you feeling relaxed on your wedding day is key to having amazing wedding photos!
As a bonus, you will have beautiful photos before your wedding that you can turn into save the date cards, photo guest books and more!
I help you plan an amazing session – from selecting the perfect wardrobe to finding the ideal location, date and time! During your engagement session, we will spend up to 1.5 fun hours together making some memories! You’ll come away with 50+ of the best-edited images in your online gallery.
And because I feel they’re so important, I offer complimentary engagement sessions with each of my wedding collections! Yay!
Your Experience
I want to know you as a friend – I’ll probably follow you on Instagram too (hope that’s not too creepy!). Your wedding is not just another date on my calendar, and it’s not just about pretty pictures. For me, it is about telling your story in a way that is authentic to you. I set up a consultation with each couple before booking, this gives us a chance to chat, laugh, talk about our favourite tv shows, and really just get to know each other. This is two-fold really – you get to know me to determine if I’m the right photographer for you, and I get to know you and know how to best tell your story! After you book, you’ll have your engagement session and before that, I send you a questionnaire to get some inside knowledge on your relationship! At your session, we will have fun and let loose and have a further chance to get to know each other! But that is not the last you’ll hear of me, I’ll be in touch all the way up to your wedding day with tips, advice and helpful guides!
What to expect on your wedding day!
It’s a mix of nerves and excitement on your wedding day; I want you to feel comfortable that the photography is taken care of.
Before your wedding day, we will discuss your timeline and talk about how to plan for the best light and ensure you have enough time to capture all of the photos you want of your day. I’ll provide you with a few sample wedding day timelines to give you an idea of how to best plan for photography. And leading up to your wedding day I’ll be sending you a questionnaire to make sure I don’t miss what is important to you.
On your wedding day, I arrive about an hour before you slip into your dress. During that time I will get those beautiful detail photos – I’ll provide you with a list of items you may want to include and have ready for me when I arrive – and some great shots of you getting ready. I will be with you to capture all of the special moments from first look to first dance and everything in between. I generally stay until just after you make your entrance into the reception, or until about an hour after the first dance is done (or even later if you’re planning a spectacular exit!).
I am used to working alone on wedding days, but you may want to consider adding a second photographer to assist me for weddings with a large guest list or in cases where you need me to be in two places at once. We will discuss this when we talk about your wedding photography needs during your consultation.
Pet-Friendly
If you’re thinking of including your dog in your wedding or engagement session (or both), I’m totally game! I haven’t met a dog that hasn’t become my best friend and I always come prepared with treats! Let’s chat about how we can incorporate your cutest family member into your wedding day!

Further down you’ll see a scheduler that will show you my availability for consultations! Find a time that works best for you, fill out a short questionnaire and your consultation is booked! We will have a virtual chat via Google Meet and talk about your love story, your vision for your wedding day, and a lot of other fun stuff!
Making it official
We’ve met, you’re certain you want to book me as your wedding photographer – I’m over the moon, trust me! I will have sent you an email after our chat about my recommendation for collection based on your photography needs. I’ll also send you a proposal where you can choose your collections and any extras. After filling out that, you’ll have the opportunity to review and sign your contract, and view your invoice. Your date is considered booked with me when I receive both your signed contract and your retainer fee. Retainer fees can be paid by e-transfer to hello@heathersavardphotography.ca and are non-refundable.

I’ll be at home getting the email that you’re all booked telling my husband how I’m so excited to work with you and that I get to work with the most amazing couples! From here, we get rolling! We will set up and have your engagement session, I’ll send you some helpful wedding tips, and in no time you’ll be getting married! I’ll be there with and for you every step of the way!
